ULAG Institutional Support Project with the Support of the Sigrid Rausing Trust

ULAG has achieved important results in strengthening its institutional capacity and advancing justice for victims of international crimes. With the support of the Sigrid Rausing Trust, we implemented a number of strategic initiatives:

  • The analytical report Needs Assessment of Ukraine’s Justice System made a significant contribution to the ongoing discussion on reforming Ukraine’s justice system in the context of international crimes. It was presented in The Hague and Kyiv, helping to strengthen cooperation with both international partners and national stakeholders.
  • Legal assistance to victims – ULAG continued to represent victims of international crimes, including unlawful detention, torture, deportation, and killings. We submitted communications to the UN Human Rights Committee and the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances.
  • A sociological study on public attitudes toward war crimes, conducted jointly with the Kharkiv Institute of Social Research, provided valuable data for state policy in the area of witness and victim protection.
  • Participation in the Dialogue Group contributed to the development of international cooperation and exchange of best practices in the prosecution of international crimes.
  • Support for the ratification of the Rome Statute through legal consultations, analytical work, and advocacy efforts in cooperation with the government and international partners.
  • Institutional development – We conducted strategic planning, developed the operational plan for 2025, and began working with an expert to optimise our governance structure and implement key internal policies.

Thanks to the financial support of the Trust, ULAG has enhanced its resilience, improved its capacity to respond to the challenges of wartime, and continued working systematically to strengthen justice for victims of the most serious international crimes.
