ULAG Ran a Strategy Session for SSU Investigators, OPG and Crimea and Sevastopol City PO Prosecutors on Deportation of Children

09.09.24

ULAG held a strategy session for investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine, prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol city who specialise in crimes committed against children. The focus was on investigating and prosecuting deportation and illegal movement of children.

On March 9, a strategic session was held for investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine, prosecutors from the Prosecutor General's Office and the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol city, who specialise in crimes committed against children.

The session was focused on deportations and illegal displacement of children in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine. This is unfortunately one of widespread crimes of this war, and one that has a specific legal nuance due to the special protected group involved and the circumstances under which such transfers take place.

It is especially valuable that the group brought together representatives of the investigation and prosecution. This made the discussion more holistic and comprehensive, allowing for more multifaceted and all-encompassing discussion, as well as mutual exchange of experience and perspective!

We are grateful to all the attendees for a productive day and active participation. Happy and honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to the work of justice representatives in such an important realm.
